The Itch of Self

Have you ever had an itch that just needed to be scratched? The itch never starts out as unbearable but a subtle tingle on the skin. The small irritant continues until it gets our attention and then consumes our thoughts until we scratch it.

We all have an itch of self - better known as pride. It creeps in unnoticed and slowly gains a foot hold into so much of our life. How do we battle pride? With God's grace.

"You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble." 1 Peter 5:5
