Our Beliefs

Our Beliefs

Statement of Faith

  1. We believe that there is only one living and true God, eternally existent in three distinct persons: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  God is Creator and Preserver of all things and is infinite in power, love, wisdom and goodness. (Genesis 1:1; John 1:1-3; Matthew 3:16-17; Exodus 34:7-8; Ephesians 1:3-6)
  1. We believe Jesus the Christ is the eternal Son of God who willingly came into this world by virgin birth as the Son of Man.  He lived a sinless life and lovingly offered Himself as a sacrifice to satisfy the Father’s justice, offering atonement for all of humanity’s sins, one time for all time.  We believe in His bodily resurrection, His physical ascension to the right hand of the Father, where, as truly God and truly man, Jesus is the only mediator between God and humanity.  (John 1:1-18; 1 Corinthians 15; Hebrews 1:3,10:1-18; Colossians 2:9,13-15; 1 Timothy 2:5-6)
  1. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of the Living God, who draws people to Christ. The Holy Spirit empowers, inspires, guides and leads the believer into the truth of new life in Christ.  He equips believers upon conversion by giving them gifts to be used for the building up of the church, and by bearing fruit through their yielded lives. (John 16:5-16; 1 Corinthians 12; Titus 3:4-7, Ephesians 2:10, 4:11-16; John 3:1-8; Galatians 5:16-25)
  1. We believe the Bible is the infallible, inspired, and authoritative Word of God.  God’s Word reveals His nature and His will for all humanity, and because of this it is the authority of our faith and practices. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Hebrews 4:12; John 17:17)
  1. We believe that salvation – the forgiveness of sins – is available only by the grace of God through the blood of Jesus Christ. While salvation is available to all, it is only experienced by those who respond to His gracious gift by faith apart from works.  Those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God, repent of their sins, and publicly confess Jesus as their Lord are immersed in water into the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.  They are regenerated by the Holy Spirit and become children of God, given a new nature and placed into the universal body of Christ.  As a result of our new relationship with God through Jesus, we are now called to live as a reflection of Jesus, manifesting spiritual fruit, and walking in good works that God has prepared beforehand for us to do.  (John 14:6; Acts 4:12; John 1:12; Titus 3:4-7; Romans 3:21-26, 6:1-8; Ephesians 1:7, 2:8-9; Hebrews 10:10-13; 1 John 5:11-13; Galatians 3:26-29; John 3:16)
  1. We believe all who have placed their faith in God through the His Son Jesus Christ are part of the universal body of believers known as the church and are united together in Jesus.  God’s placement of the believer into the universal church requires an association of the believer with other followers of Christ in a local assembly.  The purpose of this local group of believers is to lead people to Jesus and to help them mature as a child of God. (Matthew 16:13-8; Acts 2:41-47; Ephesians 2:19-22, 4:11-16)
  1. We believe in the personal return of Jesus Christ, who will judge in equity and justice all people who have ever lived, giving over those who were unrepentant to eternal condemnation but receiving the redeemed into eternal life.  (Acts 1:11; 1Thessalonians 4:13-17; 2 Peter 3:9-10; Matthew 24-25)
